NZ n AUS Tigers??………………………………..?

By admin · June 19, 2009 · Filed in British Lions Tour

Was thinking we should have a NZ and Aus team much like the british n irish lions who would tour the northern teams…….thoughts?

Urggghhh!
The mere thought sends shivers down my spine.
No is my response, as I think both the AB's and the Wallabies can more than hold their own against the so called "home nations".

Anyway imagine having to combine a team based on talent…it would just be the All Blacks anyway!!
You would have to have a quota system to get some aussies in. LMAO

Just my personal opinion. Interested to see some more comments.

Not in favour of a combined team. Look at the recent Lions results out here. The Kiwis nailed them and so did we. Now that was against the cream of UK rugby by individual SH nations.

Disagree that it would just be an AB team. With Carter out the halves would be Burgess and Giteau. Maybe Barnes in the backs but not Mortlock. I'd still have Lote in the team.

If McCaw is out, Smith in for him.Maybe Mumm as a lock and Palau at 8.

No offence to Northern Hemisphere rugby, but I think the All Blacks or the Wallabies can hold their own against European teams already. We don't need a combined team.
Anyway, if we did, this would be my Tri-Nations XV:

1. Tony Woodcock (NZL)
2. Bismarck du Plessis (RSA)
3. Neemia Tialata (NZL)
4. Ali Williams (NZL)
5. Victor Matfield (RSA)
6. Shaulk Burger (RSA)
7. Richie McCaw (NZL)
8. Pierre Spies (RSA)
9. Fourie Du Preez (RSA)
10. Dan Carter (NZL)
11. Lote Tuqiri (AUS)
12. Ma'a Nonu (NZL)
13. Stirling Mortlock (AUS)
14. Bryan Habana (RSA)
15. Mils Muliaina (NZL)

And there are quite a few players that didn't make it into the first XV that deserve a special mention (that would definately be in the squad):

John Smit, Al Baxter, Gurthro Steenkamp, Nathan Sharpe, Bakkies Botha, Rodney So'oialo, George Smith, Phil Waugh, Jimmy Cowan, Matt Giteau, Conrad Smith, Richard Kahui, Adrian Jacobs, Joe Rokocoko and Adam Ashley-Cooper
