Who has been the best BRITISH performer throughout the Eurpean Championship Qualifiers?
a couple of examples that come to mind would be David Healy of Norn Iron for his 12 goals throughout the qualifying campaign, James McFadden of Scotland for his few vital goals notable away in France, Gareth Barry/ Emile Heskey of England for sparking a bit of life back into the three lions….
Let me know what you think…..
mazin’ evrybody is votin scotland - wonder why english?
is cos they can play football, lol, and their manager is not an idiot and most important they achaiving results. that may be an alien concept to mc(BUMHEAD)laren and co. but winning generally helps you to qualify, mot relying on the other teams performing little miracles - you have to big ones yourself.
i would like to add a vote for scotland although big kudos to wee dave healy at N.I. i reckon he might fire them in to the championships, which is more than can be said for wayne rooney et al (the pies)
how do you think the British Isles as a rughby union international team would fare at the world cup?
in view of the lions performance how do you think that a British Isles team would fare (minus the Irish players) at a world cup if they played together regularly
Well I presume you mean an established team from the four home nations which practises and plays together on a continuous basis — not a through-together, six-weeks-once-every-four-years squad like the Lions.
If that is the case, they would do very well — the population base alone — 70 to 80 million puts the SH nations at a serious disadvantage. They would have no difficulty defeating Australia on a regular basis.
The only fly in the ointment is that association football is still the number one sport in England and Scotland. Rugby would have to split that pool of athletes with soccer. In New Zealand and South Africa, rugby gets first pick (just like gridiron in America, ice hockey in Canada, or soccer in Argentina) of the most talented athletes. That would give them an edge which would allow them to stay competitive with your hypothetical British/Irish squad.
What is the little symbole of a lion with its paws up called? its like british idk.?
Its like a lion with its paws up, I know for a fact its british. what is the name of this symbole?
I’m not sure what lion symbol you want to be named as there are many that depict a lion on its back legs pawing at the air. They all mean dauntless (unending) fearlessness and bravery. Also a sign of royalty.
there are the
Lion Rampant- on rear facing to the left
Lion Rampant Gaurdant- one rear facing the front
Lion Rampant Reguradant-on rear facign right
Lion Passant-one paw in air facign left
Lion Passant Guardant-one paw in air facing front
Lion Passant Regaurdant-one paw in air facing back
and
Lion Sejant Gaurdant - sitting on back paws but both paws in air and looking toward the front
Why do many English national sports teams have three lions on the shirt?
When we haven’t had native lions in the British Isles? Why not have three puffins, or three foxes, or three badgers. Something a little more "English"
What like three kebabs?

Are the British & Irish Lions able to unite the four nations (England,Scotland,Wales and Ireland)?
Yeah they can choose any player from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland that are legible to play for those countries.
Lions teams are generally very talented but inconsistent throughout the games because they have very little game time together.
They may have one moment of brilliance followed by a string of errors.
The Lions haven’t won a series in 12 years…but this years team was a good side and were just very unlucky.
Who else agrees that players from the rep of Ireland shouldn’t be playing with the lions?
I believe that players from n. Ireland, wales, Scotland and England should only pick and should just be called the British lions
What do u think
Well the immediate problem you face is that the Irish Rugby Football Union has jurisdiction over players from the whole island — not just the Republic. So your scheme would require the elimination of Ulster based players as well.
And that said, the Lions tradition predates the split between the Republic and the UK, and it is one area where the two nations have managed to maintain a productive link. Why in the world would anyone want to eliminate that tradition?
British lions to beat south africa?
Who will win it do u think, i would to know your opinon. Just say, who u think will win. Ans be honest
Currently, the series should be about 2-1 to either team.
This Lions team look pretty good, and in the past a Lions team doesnt need to be the best in the medias viewpoint in order to beat the world champions, just as we had seen in 1997.
I don’t know why people are criticising the Lions based on there previous matches and test games. The test games are a chance for the players to gel, to get tactics right for those big 3 test matches at the end of the series. People are confusing a team that looks good on paper with a good team in reality.
The Lions have shown glimpses what there best team can do. As we seen the 2 games O’Driscoll was playing alongside Roberts, we could see how the Lions midfield and backs can tear apart a defence. The Lions also shown they have a great pack as well, which many of the teams they played couldn’t handle. So far during this Lions tour, in the hindsight of other past Lions tour, things look pretty good especially as the Lions now have 6/6 wins, momentum that is vital in tours such as this.
Whereas the Springboks don’t have momentum, there players haven’t played a proper game in over a month, they haven’t played as a team since November, and they arent going to be playing the same side that narrowly beat the Royal XV, there going to be playing an on-form momentum driven Lions side which players like Bowe, O’Driscoll, Roberts etc.
Those of you who have watched Lions tours in the past will know the pretest matches don’t reflect the test games, there almost like a seperate tour. It would be like the All Blacks fielding there first team to beat someone like Romania, rather than trying something different tactically wise.
