Mike Phillips. At least held his own against Fourie de Preez, who is widely (including by me) thought to be the best in the world at scrum half today. He did this away on du Preez’ turf, and he did this without his forwards being able to dominate. Attacked well, and defended like a demon. Certainly established himself as the NH’s finest at his position.

I’d give him 8.5 / 10 [for me the only 10 at scrum half is Gareth Edwards]

A lot did well. Id go for the younger players. Bowe, Monye and especially Kearney all did very well, brilliantly considering their age. These players havent even made 20 caps for their country and passed their first Lions tour with flying colours.

Kearney.

Came on in first test and played very well, defending and kicking with aplomb.

"Owned the skies" as Stuart Barnes put it in the 2nd and 3rd test. Kicked well again, counter-attacked brilliantly and scored a fine individual try.

Very influential and reliable at the back, he gave three textbook full back performances in a row. A rating of 9 is deserved.

Jamie Roberts. Put simply if he hadn’t gone off injured in the second test the Lions would have won the series. He scared the Boks sh*tless!!

Heinrich Brussow

Made it impossible for Lions to secure ball and caused havoc!!!

Probably the best fetcher in rugby at the moment, has better stats than Richie McCaw in the Super 14, the up-coming Tri-Nations will be interesting to see who holds that crown…

Rating: 10/10 (Every time he was on the field he made a consistently large contribution both for the Springboks and for the warm up match for the Cheetahs)

Brian O’Driscoll. He is a player that has proved himself the best centre in the world. He is a team player that has the technique to drag the defense with him and then offload to his centres to score the try. He also has the skill to break most lines in half. He is finally the most secure defender in the tour. He never missed a tackle and every tackle he does send the other man flying back.
